Providing interim trauma program leadership to ensure trauma designation

Wellstar North Fulton Hospital engaged Peregrine to ensure a successful American College of Surgeons (ACS) trauma center reverification. Facing several challenges, including unplanned vacancies in key roles and a rapidly approaching ACS site visit, Peregrine provided an Interim Trauma Program Manager (TPM) to ensure all aspects of the hospital’s trauma program were ready for review. This resulted in Wellstar North Fulton Hospital’s first-time ACS reverification with no criterion deficiencies.

Peregrine’s involvement extended to creating a strategic plan to optimize trauma center performance in line with 2022 ACS standards. Key areas addressed included staffing, emergency department care, blood bank and lab processes, data utilization, financial reporting, outreach efforts, and fostering a positive culture. Peregrine’s partnership ensured the hospital’s readiness for future reverifications and has put the center on track to maintain and sustain a critical level of patient care.
